Spicy Apple Relish

Apples are extremely rich in important antioxidants, flavanoids, and dietary fiber. Among the various variety of apples, Fuji apple has the highest overall concentration of bioflavonoids which protect against heart disease and cancer. Apples are also essential for maintaining the level of health and are beneficial for controlling weight. This quick spicy apple relish makes a different variation and will tickle your palate. You can serve it as a dip for your snacks.

Ingredients:
a. Shredded Fuji Apples – 250 g.
b. Salt – 2 tsp.
c. Red chilli powder – 3 tsp.
d. Yellow mustard – 3 tsp.
e. Lemon juice – 4 tsp.
For tempering
a. Olive oil – 6 tbsp.
b. Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
Procedure:
a. Shred the apples (after removing the seeds) and place in an airtight container. Add the salt, stir, cover with a lid. Leave it for about 4 hours.
b. Add the red chilli powder, mustard and lemon juice and stir well. Taste a little and check if it is okay, If you need more spice, add half a tsp. of chilli powder and a little salt.
c. In a small sauce pan, add the oil and place on medium heat. When the oil is hot add the mustard seeds and let it splutter.
d. Add to the mixture. Cover with airtight lid and leave overnight.
Your spicy apple relish is ready!
Eat with rice, quinoa, cauliflower rice, roti, naan or bread. You may also use it as a dip to go with pakoras. Enjoy!!
